I thank the Virgin of San Juan from the bottom of my heart for the miracle of winning my first mask for mask fight over The White Whirlwind. The fight was very difficult because my opponent had more experience than I did.

Holy Shroud, thank you for your favor. My buddy Valeriano and I were drinking and heard a moan. We turned and saw a ghost of a little girl. We started cursing it and it disappeared.

Virgin of San Juan, thank you because the doña Chole’s dog didn’t do any harm to me and only took sausages that my mother had asked me to buy.

Virgin of Guadalupe, thank you for not letting a client cut me with a bottle when, on our way to the hotel, he realized that I’m not a woman. I entrusted myself to you in this danger and now I’m all right.

Saint Jude Thaddeus, I thank you and I offer you this retablo because my husband fell asleep and didn’t noticed that I was with the butcher’s son. It was a horrible situation, and I’m sorry for that. I ask you to forgive me, and I’ll never do it again. I promised you if it all would end well, I’d offer you a retablo. And now I do.

Thank you, Virgin of the Solitude, for healing me from a painful illness that I caught from a client because I was very careless about protection. I prayed you and now I’m back to work as a prostitute at my corner.

I thank Saint Sebastian because I heard my boss coming back home, so I could escape through the window and stayed in the cold. He didn’t catch me with his wife. I asked you for help, and you made so he never found out about us. I appreciate this.

Virgin of Guadalupe, don’t let mister Osama bin Laden attack the United States again, especially with nuclear bombs, because my relatives are working over there, in Los Angeles, California. Let there be piece and no war for we all are your sons. Bring them to their senses for the good of humanity.

I thank Saint Sebastian for saving me from being hit to death by a client, who on our way to the hotel noticed that I wasn’t a woman. I prayed to you in this misfortune and now I’m all right.

Because of rumors my father didn’t accept my boyfriend and even forbade me to see him. But I still met with him secretly. However, one night my father caught us in my bedroom. He was furious, he grabbed his pistol to shoot my boyfriend. I implored Saint Raymond Nonnatus to not let a tragedy happen. The pistol misfired, and my boyfriend managed to escape. Afterwards, I spoke with my father, and he finally accepted our engagement. Now he doesn’t believe any rumors, and I thank for that with this ex-voto.

I thank the Lord of Chalma, because Joaquin managed to escape before my husband entered the room. So he avoided troubles. I dedicate this retablo, asking for forgiveness and repenting. I swear I wouldn’t have cheated on my husband, because he loves me and doesn’t deserve it. I’ll always be faithful to him until death tears us apart. I fell for Joaquin’s youth and words, but it really helped me to appreciate my husband as a man and as a human being.
