I was in my bed with a light fever. Suddenly I saw skeletons who came near me and began to perform a wicked dance inviting me to join them. I prayed the Virgin of Guadalupe to save me from this absurd act and to take the skeletons far away. I closed my eyes for a moment, and when I opened them the miracle had been worked. I was feeling much better. I dedicate this retablo.

Virgin of Guadalupe, I ask you, please, so that my girlfriend Rosalba Perez wouldn’t make me suffer and wouldn’t go to the beach to dance with her friends because it makes me jealous.

1959, Petra Sanchez came to Mexico to work as a housemaid in a house in Las Lomas. She thanks Saint Pancras because she met Cantinflas there and he even danced with her.

Thanks to Saint Jude Thaddeus because he made possible the election of Barack Hussein Obama as the 44th President of North-American United States. To celebrate his election and the MLK birthday, I dance and sing with mariachi at the Paseo de la Reforma near the American embassy.

Thanks, Virgin of Guadalupe, because my husband forgave me after seeing me in the arms of a so to say friend of mine. We hadn’t seen each other many years, and I invited her for a drink. We began to toast, and she took me to dance, warmed up after drinking. My husband imagined the worst thing about me and wanted to divorce me. I begged you not to let this happen, and he forgave me. I’m very grateful and bring you this retablo.

I always enjoyed the speed and strong emotions. But then I got in a terrible crash on my motorcycle. I suffered multiple fractures and spent several weeks in the hospital. I dedicate this retablo to Saint Ignatius of Loyola thanking him for that crash because that way I met a gorgeous nurse who made my recovery very pleasant. Now, when I’m recovered I’ve even invited her to go dancing.

I love dancing Argentinian tango and practiced very hard for a tango competition. At the same time I have a stage fright during competitions. I thank Saint Nicholas with this retablo that I had a very talented tang partner to practice for a few months, my tango skills improved and the competition got canceled.

My husband and I thank the Holy Lord of Chalma with this retablo for allowing us to perform the Son Jarocho dance every weekend in the city center and in the arcades. It fills us with pride to keep our traditions alive and to share our music with the tourists who visit the beautiful city of Veracruz.

I, Anastacio Rodriguez C., thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for helping me to achieve the dream of my life to go to the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro to look how the juicy Brazilian girls dance samba. I had been saving money for ten years, and it was worth it. I went as an organ-grinder to the south of the continent.

I was participating in the quebradita contest with my group. When my partner lifted me up for the final pose, my pants cracked really bad. I was really scared that because of me all my partners were going to be disqualified by the judges. I thank Saint Juan Bosco for the judges didn’t notice this embarrassing moment and we won the first prize.
