My old man Cirilo used to drink in the bar with his friends. I was very desperate because he couldn’t stop. I begged the Holy Lord of Chalma to help him to quit this sin, and thanks to his divine intervention my old man amended his ways and became a good worker.

Almost all women in our family have beards. That’s why my sister and I grew up as circus freaks and married ugly men. We got tired of our destiny and began to perform as dancers. We shaved, we divorced, and we have great success. We thank the Virgin of San Juan.

Virgin of San Juan, for helping me to get through a dangerous surgery on my stomach, I thank you. I was stabbed by my husband who thought I was cheating on me with another man. My life was in danger.

Virgin of San Juan, I give thanks to you for letting me save my life and go well through an open heart surgery to unclog a valve that I had clogged because I’m overweight.

Nicandro Malfabon was a macho but he fell in love with his stable boy. He asked Saint Francis of Assisi to release him from this feeling or make so that the young man return his love to him. And he took him to his house.

I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for giving me tenacity and spirit to win the national championship by taking over the great Caveman in three falls matches at the Arena Coliseo in beautiful Guadalajara.

I give thanks, Lightning from Jalisco, 1959

Virgin of San Juan, thank you for appearing in the circus when a very horny horse jumped on Bigbooty the clown. I, Panfilo de Narvaez, implored you so that the children wouldn’t see such a grotesque scene.

Rufino Orozco from Ciudad Guzman, Jalisco, offers this retablo to the Virgin of Guadalupe for the miraculous save when he was almost killed goring dangerously and deadly by a bull when he fancied himself as a torrero.

It happened on July 5, 1958, Mexico

I was in my bed with a light fever. Suddenly I saw skeletons who came near me and began to perform a wicked dance inviting me to join them. I prayed the Virgin of Guadalupe to save me from this absurd act and to take the skeletons far away. I closed my eyes for a moment, and when I opened them the miracle had been worked. I was feeling much better. I dedicate this retablo.

I was doing my household chores at the kitchen. When I turned to mop, I saw some filthy rats getting in, with some nerve I’d never seen, through the drain and the window. My cat Ramona got frightened and hid behind my skirts. Seeing such a great disaster, I implored the Blessed Apostle for his mercy. Then I started to hit the rats with my broom, and they turned back and went back to where they came from.

I thank God and his mother, Virgin of the Rosary of Talpa. It was March 1995, we were going to Talpa, and, before Cruz de Romero, there is a spot on a curve which we used for our physical needs. It was the dawn, and, although there was a beautiful moon, it was difficult to see. I went away to find an appropriate place and suddenly felt that I was being pulled to the cliff. It was a strong pull of my entire body, clothes and moreover my hair. I implored the Virgin and asked my companions for help. They saved me from a secure death right away. I dedicate this retablo in gratitude.
