I was going back to my hut when suddenly a bandit jumped out on my way. He was going to hurt me. I thank the Virgin of the Solitude for giving me the courage to grab the pistol from the bandit and defend myself. I saved my life, after all I have three kids who totally depend on me.

I went fishing in my boat like every other day, and, when I threw my net, suddenly a huge shark appeared and attacked me. I fervently asked San Charbel to help me and to give me the strength to defend myself, and thanks to his divine help I came out safe and sound from that great danger, because the shark went away after I wounded it.

I wholeheartedly thank Saint Anthony of Padua for delivering my son Valentin from a love pain caused by an evil woman who cheated on him. That’s why he was spending all his time drinking. I was heart-broken. But thanks to the divine intervention, my boy is back to work now. He’s calm and peaceful now, and I bring this retablo for that.

When I feel overwhelmed or sad, I have a perfect remedy. At night I go flying with night birds and bats. trying to reach for the moon. I glide in the wind and merge with the night and its creatures. I’m infinitely thankful to the Holy Spirit for teaching me how to fly and how to leave the problems behind.

I make this retablo to thank Saints Emeterius and Celedonius who were helping me, for 4 years, with my shoulder injury which hurt so much. I thought I could never paint again. Although it still hurts, I can make painting for living. That’s why I want to ask Saint Lucy, patroness of the vision, to help me, Dario Ortiz, so I could keep on seeing everything I love to see.
