I tried to cross the desert and get to the another side. I walked meaninglessly for many hours, and then I began to feel sick. I decided to take a rest. I sat down, and a scorpion stung my hand. I though I was going to die. In that moment, a devil himself appeared before me and offered to save me in exchange for my soul. I prayed the Virgin for help… and managed to get to the hospital alive. I give thanks.

The other day, while cleaning the windows of an eight-story building, I saw pretty girls dancing zumba in one apartment. I was staring at them like an idiot, and I slipped and almost fell down. I entrusted myself to Saint Augustine who saved me from the danger and gave me the strength to climb back up. I promise him to be careful and concentrated at my work.

One day my husband Jose went to the United States to work, and I never heard again from him. I open a fruit shop to support my children, and the things went good thanks to Saint Anthony. The Saint made me another miracle as well. On October 15, 1964, after three years of absence, I received a postcard from my Jose who told me that he was coming back.

I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for looking after me and my family during this COVID-19 sanitary contingency and because those from us who got sick were able to get through, thanks to God and the Holy Virgin. Receive this exvoto painted by Espintla, with all his love.

The coach of the junior soccer team “Vultures” enjoyed drinking very much. The kids implored Saint John Bosco, and the coach finally gave up alcohol and has become a great team leader. They thank with this retablo for such favor.

We are infinitely thankful to Saint Roch, patron of epidemics, because finally the COVID-19 vaccine has been found. We are asking, with all our faith, to use it to end the pandemic and let all the people in the world—whatever their social or economic status—to get it.

2021

On my way back from work, I was kidnapped by some bastards. Finding myself in a deadly danger, I entrusted myself to God asking him not to let something bad happen to me. I was able to untie myself and, with their first slip-up, ran away. I didn’t care that I was naked, because in that way I saved my life.

The Gonzalez brothers were attacked in their own butcher shop but they were able to defend themselves, with Saint Jude’s help. They bring the present retablo for that, giving thanks and testifying about this great favor.

Infinite Thanks to Saint Leasa Mann, who offered to pay the bills of strangers who were struggling because they’d lost shifts or work during Covid. She doesn’t know this but because of her help, I was able to stay in my supportive queer sharehouse, instead of having to move back to country Victoria with my parents, & back into a deep dark closet.

Please paint me clubbing with lots of tattoos, because they are the first two things I’m going to do when lockdown is over.

Gregorio Robledo worked as a double in a movie, and he was accidentally stabbed in the back with a sword. He gives infinite thanks to Saint Charbel with this retablo because it wasn’t very serious and he’s already got out of the hospital.

Francisco N. thanks Saint Patrick with this humble exvoto because his fetish for high-heeled shoes hasn’t been discovered by his family nor by his friends. He is a man esteemed in the society, and it would sadden him, if his secret was known. Also, he thanks for his big shoes collection that he has amassed in the last years.
