Eugenia Sandoval came home and found out that her roommate was a witch. She thanks Saint James with this retablo because she found another boarding house to move in.

Saint Sebastian, I dedicate you this [retablo] because my doggies El Canelo and La Negra (Cinnamon and Blackie) saved me from being stabbed by don Pedro’s son who got drunk and found out that I’m not a woman. I’m thankful for this miracle and ask you to look after my doggies, don’t let nothing happen to them.

The animals from our farm went sad and lost their appetite. We didn’t know what happened with them. They stopped eating, and we were scared they would die. So we entrusted them to the Holy Child of Atocha who miraculously intervened, and the animals recovered and look better than ever. The hens lay many eggs, the cow gives much more milk, and the piglets look fatter. We give thanks.

I’m a big fan of “Hellraiser” movies. But one night I was walking down an empty street, and Pinhead, one of the cenobites characters in the movies, appeared to me. I thank Saint Michael the Archangel because, although he tried to catch me, I managed to escape. I don’t know if it was a product of my imagination or real but this experience scared me a lot.

I love enjoying the life and my youth. That’s why I use my beauty to date three men at the same time. I thank Saint Catherine, with this retablo, because not one of them knows about this, so I can keep enjoying gifts and pamper they give me.

I thank Saint Lazarus who saved me from a trouble when a dog fell on my back. It fell off the roof tumbling me down when I was going for some beer. I even came out of soak with this damned fright. Think—if it would have fallen on my neck would I be telling this story? But I got up and am telling it.

We live far from the town, and my little son had no kids in the neighborhood to play with. One day he told me he got a friend. I thought it was an imaginary friend, but then I saw, to my surprise and fear, that it was a big nagual whom he played with. The creature looked friendly but any way I felt scared and prayed to the Virgin asking for help. The help came when the daughter of our close neighbor Don Romo came to live with him with her three children who made friendship with my son. The nagual got scared with so many people and didn’t approach my son again. Next year my son will go to school, and he’ll have many more friends.

Doña Sofia Ramos’ husband was a irresponsible drunkard. She and her daughter prayed the Virgin of Zapopan to get him back on the righteous path. Thanks to the Holy Virgin doña Sofia’s husband stopped drinking and found a good job.
