Anita Sandoval thanks Saint Rita of Cascia with this retablo because little by little she overcame an addiction to buying shoes, for now she has hundreds pairs of them.

The fact that the aggression happened during sleep makes this miracle highly improbable. But the most interesting part of this ex-voto is rather the date, 1903. The phrase “flying saucers” hadn’t been invented yet. So we’re talking about extraordinary and prophetic dream.

Caption: Luisella Caldart was abducted by two flying saucers while, in her sleep, she was hovering over her home town.

My sons’ dog liked to go on trips with them. But because it is very fat and clumsy one day it stubbled and fell. We thank the Virgin of Zapopan because the boys saved the dog and the poor animal wasn’t hurt too much.

Marvelous Saint James, we offer you this humble retablo for helping us with the soldiers who didn’t let the train pass because we were going where our general Pancho Villa was and we were carrying riffles and machine guns to him because we were fighting for our land and our freedom.

I thank Saint Paschal, a patron saint of cooks, because with his divine inspiration I became a very good pastry cook. Together with my daughter we make cookies and cakes. We’re good at that and we’re earning a living for our family.

Jose gives thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe for letting him cross the Rio Bravo (Rio Grande) without being seen by immigration police. So he could fulfill his American dream and earn some bucks for helping his family in Mexico.

The cat of Ramona Morales climbed on a pole and couldn’t come down. He sat over there for two days, and Ramona, however hard she tried, couldn’t help him. So she prayed to the Virgin for help. And then arrived a man from the electric company. He had a ladder and he took the pussycat down. The cat was so hungry that he drank a litre of milk. Thank you, Virgin.

Saint Jude Thaddeus, thank you for your favors.

At one party, I met a Victor. I fell in love with him, and three months later he asked me to move in his place and live together. After that the nightmare started. He was very jealous and drank a lot. One time I met my friend form the childhood and said hello. And Victor went mad. He was furious, and when we arrived at home he beat me with a plank and chained me up. Next day, when he went at work, I tried to get free from the chain. I grabbed my personal things in a hurry and ran to my parents. We don’t want to report on him because we’re frightened he could harm us.

I thank the Virgin of Chapi because, although I didn’t find a cure for my rare disease that made my skin elastic, I found a job on a carnival. I have a very nice routine and I am known as “The man with the rubber skin”.

One night I worked till late at night. I was coming home, walking near the cemetery, when the ghost of my aunt Clotilde started to pursue me. Only when I invoked the Lord of Work I could escape from it and arrived home safe and sound. Then I ordered few masses for my aunt’s soul and now I dedicate this retablo thanking for saving me.

The day when we married, we were so happy that when we came out of the church, we took our hands and we just ran away leaving all the people behind. There were just the two of us loving each other so much. We thank to the Virgin of Zapopan for our great love and happiness that even birds came to the church singing for us.
