Eduardo Varela went to swim in the river during his excursion. There he saw that he was about to be attacked by two enormous crocodiles. Finding his life in danger, he entrusted himself to the Virgin of Guadalupe who protected him so he could get out of the water and escape from those horrible animals. He offers this retablo in gratitude.

When Petra Dominguez went to the river to do laundry, she passed by two gossip women who made a joke about her. Then she returned, grabbed them by the hair and kicked their asses. She thanks Saint Charbel for she didn’t drown them in the river.

Sacramento Villareal gives thanks because he managed to arrive to the USA. Rio Bravo was very wide and we almost drown in getting to the American dream. Although the crazy gringo Donald Trump is a reptilian and a Ku Klux Klan member, is a fucking fat racist, his country is Mexican territory.

Because of a very powerful hurricane that hit our town, the river bursted its banks and I was trapped in my truck with my little dog. I give infinite thanks to Saint Rita with this retablo because the rescue team came in time and saved me and my little dog Canela.

To the Holy Virgin of San Juan, I dedicate this retablo thanking for protecting me from the immigration police when they were running after me. I entrusted myself to her and was able to get to Rio Bravo, hide myself and cross it. With her blessing, I came to California and got a job. I saved good money and opened my tacos shop here in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco.

My boyfriend Jasinto and I were secretly seeing each other by the river for our lovemaking because my daddy didn’t let me have a boyfriend. But the other day, while we were making out, we saw someone passing by. I thank the Holy Lord of Chalma for it was only my grandfather who cannot see very well, so he didn’t notice us. Otherwise, things with my family would have gone very terrible for me.

I dedicate this to the Virgin of San Juan thanking her for delivering me from dying drowning in Rio Bravo. Thanks to David and Miguel, two Salvadorians, who saved my life. Together we managed to get to the United States and achieve the American dream.

I was walking down the old road with my children. Suddenly a thunderstorm began. I was afraid because I knew that the river bursts its banks and floods the road when it rains heavily. I prayed the Virgin of Zapopan, and we ran against the wind and rain splashing in our faces. Thanks to the Holy Virgin we get to the house and only got our clothes soaked. I thank for our protection.

We went to Veracruz to visit our aunts and uncles. When we were going in the boat some monkeys climbed over. They began to rock the boat, and we were afraid they would push us into the water full of crocodiles. But thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe we managed to escape safely from this difficult situation. No more animals attacked us during that trip. We thank for we went through it well.
