My kitchen was filled with cockroaches. My cat was very lazy to catch them. I didn’t know how to get rid of them. Saint Paschal gave me an idea to bring all my farm animals to the kitchen—the pigs, the ducks, the chicken. They ate all the cockroaches saving my kitchen, although they dirtied it up a little.

Vicente Ramirez thanks Saint John of the Cross with this retablo because his girlfriend fulfilled his dream about threesome. It was what he wished most for, so now he can die happy.

During the Lupita’s piñata, my son was hit by a stick. His head was wounded, and he was bleeding. I was scared that he’d become an idiot, so I prayed to the Virgin of the Rosary. Thanks ti her my son had no bad consequences and recovered very quickly.

When my husband Juan Jose died, I was sad and couldn’t find any consolation. We loved each other so much, and I couldn’t stand the thought of not seeing him again. I asked the Virgin to let me see him. And she gave me that. So now every Day of the Dead, I put the altar and bring the offerings, and then my husband appears for a few seconds. So I can keep his image in my memory and find strength to live on without him.

A giant spider used to build his web over my bed every night, and it looked me down with its devil eyes. At the mornings there was no spider. I cleaned up the web, but the next night it started all over again. Finally, after many prayers to Saint Barbara, I had a dream—the saint pierced the spider with her sword. So the next night the spider didn’t come. I thank for that.

I married my beloved Chayito without knowing that she snores like a lion. Although I loved her, my marriage became a nightmare because I couldn’t sleep. I prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan so she’d help me to resolve my dilemma. And the Virgin miraculously made so my Chayito stopped snoring. I thank for that.

A stray dog used to follow me when I took my kids to the school. Then it came back to the house with me. The dog showed so much love, so I decided to adopt it. Now, when we washed it and it got fatten, the dog looks quite nice. I thank Saint Francis because this dog is the joy of our house and it even protects the house.

My daughters decided to take a short cut—through the don Pancho’s lands—because it was getting dark. There they saw the devil hiding among the cattle and disguised as cow. In fear they entrusted themselves to the Virgin of San Juan and ran away to the house. Thanks to the Virgin’s protection the demon couldn’t catch them and didn’t put any curse on them.

On a picnic, Laura followed some butterflies and went far away from her family. When she was picking dandelions she noticed that she got lost. Laura got scared and asked the Holy Spirit to help her to find her family. That moment, a light breeze came up and the dandelion seeds flew to the place where the Laura’s family was. They were also pretty scared. They thank for that miracle.

One night I was coming back home from a bar. I decided to take a short cut through the mountain. There I saw the devil goat. I made the sign of the cross and ran away, although I was pretty drunk. I thank the Virgin of the Rosary because I managed to arrive to my house, the monster didn’t slobber all over me and I only got some gray hair with fright.
