I was picking oranges and fell from the ladder. My bones are very fragile and I was frightened I might break one. But thanks to the Virgin of San Juan I fell down on my husband, who is very lazy and never helps. I offer this retablo to the Virgin.

November 2, on the Day of the Dead, the ghost of my buddy appeared to me protesting because I had approached to his wife. I thank Saint Jude Thaddeus for protection and promise to behave good.

I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe because I was tested negative for AIDS, so I can continue to work as a prostitute to pay for my husband’s spine surgery and to provide for my family.

I was very irritable and quick-tempered. I argued and shouted, and it upset my husband. Therefore my marriage was under threat. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan who gave me the idea of channeling my anger into a pair of knitting needles. Now when I feel that I’m getting angry, I run and grab the knitting and knit furiously. I’ve already knitted sweaters and scarves for the whole family and even for our cats and dog, and I’m still knitting. Now, thanks to this, I can almost always be sweet with my husband and my family.

I thank Saint Jude Thaddeus for my beautiful wife. I met her while wrestling. She always sat in the fist row and she was always very excited. Her support made me fight super good, and I always won. Afterwards I invited her to meet me, and then we got married.

Thanks to Saint Helen I can play a bunch of Fleetwood Mac songs much better than my husband.

Señor Jose Nicolas Mendes thanks the Virgin of San Juan, because he worked hard and was capable to pay for his wife’s breast augmentation surgery. Now he has a spectacular private life.

Saint Jude Thaddeus, thank you for your help. One day my husband came home in bad mood because a sheep fell of the cliff. My husband was drunk. He went on the kitchen and tried the chilaquiles I made. He got furious, he threw the pan saying that the food wasn’t spicy enough. I asked him not to get mad. But he grabbed my hair and kick me in the face. He broke my jaw. So I had it, and I kicked him out the house.

We thank the Virgin of Guadalupe, because, after trying so hard, my husband finally got a credit to buy this house. Make it so that he save his job and give us health and love, and happiness.

I thank Saint Paschal for his favor that I received right on this humble kitchen. I never was a good cook. But when I got married my husband said that he really didn’t care about it. However, some time later he started to go to eat at his mother’s house. I stayed at home alone, and I was afraid of losing him. I prayed to Saint Paschal for help. He worked a miracle and made my food taste good. Now my husband never misses a dinner at home and he even boasts about my cooking. I thank for that.

I was in my drugstore when the Zapatistas arrived and took my wife and my mother-in-law. I thank the Holy Child of Atocha for they didn’t see me.

My husband Celerino was a sleep-walker. He used to run out at night to dance naked in the field. I was afraid that somebody would see him. Also I was ashamed that the Virgin or the saints could see him nude. So I prayed to Saint Lucy, because she is blind and couldn’t possibly notice my husband’s nudity. She made a miracle, and now my Celerino sleeps at night and doesn’t run.
